At least nine people have been killed in Syrian government attacks on a camp for internally displaced people (IDP) in the rebel-held province of Idlib in northwestern Syria, reports Al Jazeera (Qatar).

On Sunday, regime forces launched around 30 rockets at the Maram IDP camp, killing at least nine people and injuring 25, according to opposition activists and first responders.

Russian combat aircraft also conducted four strikes in western Idlib, said the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights without providing any casualty figures.

In response, rebel forces attacked regime targets in the Saraqeb area, east of Idlib, and the Al Ghab plain with artillery and missiles, said the observatory.

The Syrian Civil Defense Forces said that six camps were struck, killing six and wounding at least 75.

The pro-government Sham FM radio station reported that the strikes targeted positions of the Al-Qaida-affiliated Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group.
