The Dept. of Defense has awarded four companies contracts under the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability program.
On Wednesday, Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Oracle each received a hybrid (firm-fixed price and time and materials, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity) contract with a maximum value of $9 billion.
The multiple award contract vehicle will permit the Pentagon to rapidly acquire commercial cloud capabilities and services directly from the commercial cloud service providers (CSPs) at all classification levels, from headquarters to the front lines.
The deals will allow the department to acquire various capabilities under a single contract, including global accessibility; available and resilient services; centralized management and distributed control; elastic computing, storage and network infrastructure; advanced data analytics; fortified security; and tactical edge devices.
No funds were obligated at the time of award; funds will be obligated on individual orders as they are issued, said a Pentagon release.
Work under the contracts is scheduled to be completed by June 8, 2028.
